Description
Inspired by a recent visit to Iguazu waterfalls, I wanted to create a composition that imparts a sense of Genesis. While looking at the waterfalls you witness the incredible power of nature and the sheer volumen of water is awe inspiring.
I wanted to juxtapose the element of water with fire, hence the suggestion of a dragon breathing flames from its nostrils to the left of the painting. The toucan looks into the scene, a silent witness to the natural phenomena, meanwhile there is a sense of circular movement with rotating prisms of light and a paper airplane in flight.
As with a lot of my work I added a butterfly (called an 88 because of the marking on it’s wings) to represent the sense of fragility in contrast to the power and might of the waterfalls.
